Rabbi Dave Levy is thrilled to serve as the inaugural director of The Block Center for Jewish Exploration and Education.

Rabbi Dave has devoted his career to making Judaism accessible and meaningful for Jewish seekers of all kinds, primarily youth and adolescents. Most recently he served as the founding director of Ramah Sports Academy a Jewish overnight camp that combines joyous Jewish living with high level sports instruction. In that role Rabbi Dave loved working with campers and staff, and really enjoyed interacting with Jewish sports “hall of famers.” He also got his NYS sports coaching certification from SUNY Cortland.

Before that, Rabbi Dave served as the International Director of USY from 2012-2017, overseeing all USY summer programs and year-round operations in North America and Israel. He previously served as the Director of Admissions for The Rabbinical and Cantorial Schools at JTS, as the University Chaplain and Director of Jewish Life at Colgate University, and as the Director of Jewish Education for the Hillel at Syracuse University.

Since 2012 Rabbi Dave has also served in a number of capacities here at SPS including leading our Young Professionals High Holiday services, teaching in our adult education programs, and appearing as Moses for KNS Passover celebrations.

Rabbi Dave holds a BA in Political Science from Columbia University and a BA in Talmud from JTS. He received his Rabbinic Ordination from JTS in 2004, where he concurrently received his MA in Midrash.

Rabbi Dave is married to Rabbi Rachel Ain. They are the proud parents of two sons.
