Cantor Alexandra Weiser believes Jewish life thrives when people are welcomed as active participants in a living tradition. At Sutton Place Synagogue, she nurtures musical expression, lifelong learning, and meaningful relationships, helping people at every stage of life feel seen, connected, and inspired.

Cantor Weiser's artistic background has long informed her cantorate. A lyric soprano, she has performed from New York City to Tanglewood in the Berkshires to Florence, Italy, with a repertoire spanning Yiddish song, opera, and the Great American Songbook. She has also established herself in the Broadway community, most recently co-producing the Tony Award-winning musical Suffs. These experiences shape her approach to leadership as she sees music and storytelling as our most powerful means of transforming what is personal into something shared. She especially enjoys creating original experiences that bring Judaism and the cultural arts into conversation in fresh and unexpected ways.

Cantor Weiser received her BA from Brandeis University, where she studied psychology, music, and theater, and earned an MFA in Dramaturgy from Columbia University's School of the Arts. She is a proud member of the Cantors Assembly. Cantor Weiser, her husband Jared, and their son Emmett are delighted to call New York City home.
