For 36 years, our religious services and special events were enriched and enhanced by the golden voice of our Cantor Emeritus, Cantor Dov Keren. A veteran of service with the Israeli Defense Forces, Cantor Keren came to us from Haifa, Great Synagogue Israel. Following his appearance as guest cantor for the synagogue’s 1984 High Holy Days Services during which he thrilled the congregation with his magnificent liturgical renditions, Cantor Keren was invited to move to the United States and become our synagogue’s full time cantor. He not only led our services, but also prepared our Bar and Bat Mitzvah students, both adults and children, and inspired the formation of the SPS Volunteer Kol Rinah Choir. Cantor Keren’s rich tenor voice and great personal warmth contributed much to the growth of our synagogue. Cantor Keren retired in the summer of 2020 and is an active participant in our virtual shabbat services. He and his wife Cila reside in Florida.
