Reading Torah as Military History

Synagogue member, Steve Ossad grew up surrounded by returning WWII veterans. He listened to their stories and developed a lifelong interest in military history. His published works on leadership, heroism, and the lessons of command failure has appeared in both popular and scholarly journals.

He received the 2003 Army Historical Foundation Distinguished Writing Award for Command Failures: Lessons Learned from Lloyd R. Fredendall and authored a biography of wartime commander, Major General Maurice Rose: World War II’s Greatest Forgotten Commander, the son and grandson of rabbis and the highest ranking Jewish American officer ever killed in battle. Steve is currently writing a biography of General Omar N. Bradley and working on his first novel The Bombardier and the Chapel.
